Class 3

Class 3

When you graduate from this class you will receive a Certificate of Achievement (please collect from our Registrar at the end of graduation), which entitles you to the Council discount for training.

Below are just some of the things you will learn how to teach to your dog.

  • Loose lead walking.
  • Recall off-lead with your dog coming back to sit in front of you.
  • Have your dog stay in the sit position at a distance of 3 metres from you for about 20 seconds before you return to your dog.
  • Have your dog stay in the drop position at a distance of 3 metres from you for about 20 seconds before you return to your dog.
  • The hand signal for getting your dog to stand and drop with you standing in front of them is also introduced.
  • Left and right 90° turns with your dog at heel on a loose lead.
  • Left and right about turns (180° turns) with your dog at heel on a loose lead.
  • Left and right circles (360° turns) continuing forward with your dog at heel on a loose lead.
  • Have your dog stand for patting and touching by the Trainer. Moving around a little is fine as long as your dog isn’t shying away from the Trainer.
  • Finish – your dog returns to the heel position from in front of you by circling around you.
  • Agility equipment use.

To graduate –

  • Recall from 3 metres.
  • Stand for patting and touching by the Trainer with you standing in front facing your dog.
